Most people who visit the Emergency Room know that something is wrong. However, when people arrive at the Emergency Room at the same time as someone who has been shot or someone who is bleeding profusely, a person with less obvious symptoms often gets secondary treatment — even though their less obvious symptoms can be fatal.
At Linnan & Fallon, we have nearly 60 years of legal experience and Attorney Charlene Fallon has numerous years of hospital-based nursing experience. Our knowledge and experience allow us to thoroughly investigate Emergency Room errors to expose negligence. Our team of attorneys represents individuals who have suffered injuries or lost loved ones because of the negligence of Emergency Room professionals. If you or a loved one has been the victim of Emergency Room negligence, the team of Linnan & Fallon is here to help you. We are committed to being BEHIND EVERY CLIENT, EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.
Failure To Diagnose Stroke Or Heart Attack
With all the medical technology that is available, people who visit the Emergency Room should not die from a stroke or heart attack. An individual who complains of chest pain or shortness of breath needs the same immediate medical attention as an individual who visits the Emergency Room with a knife wound. If your loved one died from a heart attack or stroke after visiting the Emergency Room, you may be entitled to compensation through a wrongful death or medical malpractice case.
Pulmonary Embolism (Or Shortness Of Breath) After Traveling
Pulmonary Embolism (also called PE) is common in individuals who have just finished long car or airplane rides. Individuals can die from PE when a blood clot in the leg moves through the bloodstream and to the lung and cuts off the person's oxygen supply.
Failure to timely detect and treat a PE can be fatal. If a nurse fails to adequately take a patient's history — such as the patient's recent travel — the problem can be missed. A patient who is short of breath caused by a PE may be sent home with fatal symptoms.
